Amla · Bibhitaki · Haritaki — sourced organic, offered as Clean Queen™
Triphala — literally "three fruits" in Sanskrit — is the most trusted, most prescribed, and most researched formula in the entire Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia. Every classical Ayurvedic text from the Charaka Samhita forward names it as the foundation of daily self-care. Two thousand years later, it's still the first thing an Ayurvedic physician hands a new patient.
The formula is deceptively simple: equal parts of three dried fruits — Amla, Bibhitaki, and Haritaki — ground together. What makes Triphala remarkable is that each fruit addresses one of the three doshas, so the blend as a whole is tridoshic. It's appropriate for nearly every constitution, every season, and every stage of life.
Amla (Amalaki). The Indian gooseberry. Cool, sour, and one of the highest natural sources of stable vitamin C on earth. Amla calms pitta — the fire that shows up as inflammation, acid, and irritation. It supports the liver, the eyes, and the deep nourishment of tissue. In Ayurveda it's called a rasayana — rejuvenating — because it slows the wear that time and stress put on the body.
Bibhitaki. Warming, astringent, and drying. Bibhitaki addresses kapha — the excess heaviness, moisture, and stagnation that build up in the respiratory and digestive channels. Traditionally, it's the fruit used when the body feels congested, sluggish, or thick.
Haritaki. Sometimes called "the king of medicines." Haritaki is the primary downward-moving fruit — it supports apana vata, the current in the pelvis responsible for elimination, menstruation, and childbirth. It's the fruit most directly responsible for Triphala's reputation as a gentle daily cleansing formula, and it balances vata — the dry, mobile quality that shows up as anxiety, constipation, and dryness.
Why the three together. Ayurveda rarely uses a single herb in isolation. The three fruits of Triphala are combined because they cover every dosha, every taste (sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, and astringent — five of the six), and every channel. The result is a formula that nudges the whole body back toward its own natural rhythm rather than pushing it in one direction.
Traditional use. Triphala is taken in the evening, about an hour before bed, with warm water. This lets it work overnight and support a natural morning elimination — one of the primary Ayurvedic signs of a healthy digestive system. It's meant to be taken continuously, over years, as part of daily self-care rather than as a short cleanse. It doesn't create dependency the way stimulant laxatives do, because it's supporting a function rather than forcing one.
